Zen Buddhism has a profoundly anti- intellectual streak. I can't speak for all Japanese as I only really get to talk to a tiny subsection of the population that is interested in learning English, but certainly it seems to me that most Japanese men are more interested in food & baseball than Catholic philosophy. But I guess that may be true for a sizable number of Americans too.

They trust bent lawyers & porn stars if they talk smack about people they hate, but they don’t trust saints, apostles & Holy Mother Church when it tells them about Jesus, the Best Man of All. Seriously, 😳 how bad a judge of character is your average Dem voter?  But it’s not just left wingers. Why would you trust someone on the internet or on TV, or who writes for a newspaper or magazine, or someone you happen to have a blood relationship with, or someone you went to school with, more than God’s Holy Words in the Bible?
